Abstract
Deputy Attorney General William Tam regarding Puna Geothermal Venture's (PGV) request for an extension of mining leases R-1 and R-2 beyond the primary ten-year terms of the leases. Includes draft copies of extension approvals. The current PGV geothermal development activity satisfies the lease requirements and provides for an automatic extension of the primary tenus of leases R-1 and R-2, both of which expired on February 20, 1991. Also enclosed is copy of PGVs request, together with pertinent sections of the geothermal resource mining lease for your information. Our Department's position on the matter is reflected in the draft letter of approval.
