Mass media--Political aspects.
Date Issued:1992
Source:Campaign Files, Box 20, Folder 1
Description:This folder contains various documents related to Congressman Rick Reed and his campaign against Senator Daniel K. Inouye. Outlets like The Maui News expressed how they are the best way to buy “effective political coverage” in Maui County along with KNUI Maui where they also sent who also sent a letter to inform Reed about their political policy for advertising spots for political purposes. There also contains a letter to the editor by Rick Reed who insists that an interviewer’s purpose is to smear Reed’s political reputation. Further included in the folder are letters and interviews that try to improve Reed’s campaign strength as well as letters sent by Rick Reed to Minga Dennis Ano to help his campaign and to Senator Daniel K. Inouye to limit his campaign spending to $750,000 and a portion of the money back because Reed believes that excessive campaign spending damages democracy by helping keep incumbents in office and discouraging new people from serving the government.
