Description:This folder contains the testimony of Mitsuo Uyehara, the project director of the Native Hawaiian Land Trust Task Force that was given to the Native Hawaiian Study Commission. Congressional records, first legislative documents, the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act and the transfer over of governments between the kingdom to the Provisional Government were given in evidence. Uyehara defined what a Native Hawaiian is based on blood quantum in relation to a proposal for a Native Hawaiian Federal Task Force and Self Governance Project and gives recommendations to the commission. In this folder are also documents related to land tenure in Hawai'i and a bill for an act H.B. No. 2631-78, on the use of appropriations for the planning and production of a state conference on native Hawaiian programs.
