Milton Murayama Papers - Public

Permanent URI for this communityhttps://hdl.handle.net/10524/82053

Welcome to the public portion of the Milton Murayama Papers. In this sub-collection there are materials about the life and work of Milton Murayama that have been made available to the public online. Here, viewers can find published book reviews of Murayama’s novels that contain handwritten annotations, and a sizable accumulation of correspondence that largely pertains to Murayama’s writing career. There are also files of articles, essays, and short stories Murayama wrote that are not affiliated with his final unpublished work Odds and Ends. Biographical materials such as certificates, genealogical essays, and nearly all the photographs in the collection are available here, as well as short draft fragments from Murayama’s novels. A draft fragment can be defined as a portion of text that is less than a page in length and does not, by itself, form an entire chapter or work.

It is worth noting that overlap of certain folders and files exists between the public and restricted sub-collections on eVols. In such cases, there exists both a “public” and “restricted” version of these files and folders. In instances where files or folders contain sensitive information, the “restricted” version contains all materials while the “public” version only has materials considered appropriate for widespread distribution online. The “Correspondence” and “Articles, Essays, Short Stories” series and sub-series on ArchivesSpace, as well as instances where there are digital partial drafts of novels, book reviews, and certificates are where this overlap occurs the most. The “restricted” and “public” versions of these files can be located in their respective sub-collections on eVols.
