Also included in this folder is news from Inouye from the Economic Summit meeting in Washington. Inouye writes about news related to the U.S. economy, federal budget cuts, jobs in Hawai'i, tourism, unforeseen natural disasters in 1974, social security, inflation of prices, energy, oil and Arabs. Inouye also mentions topics such as the reliance of Hawai'i on petroleum to meet its energy needs, various committee recommendations, government costs and the appreciation of Hawai'i species. The responsiveness program, legislation of the 1970s, along with actions of WWII, Nixon's impeachment, Watergate and the Energy crisis are also included.
