This folder contains a speech made by U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye at a farewell ceremony for the remains of the USS Argonaut Commandos of Makin Island at Hickam Air Force Base. Two companies of the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion raided Makin Island, destroying enemy installations and diverting Japanese attention from battles of Guadalcanal and Tulagi. The speech honors the fallen men of the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion.
