Showcases all of Sakhalin and adjacent lands, with the depiction of the southern part of the island predicated upon recent advanced Japanese surveys executed in the immediate wake of their takeover of the region in 1905. The map features a wealth of detail on the topography, ethnography and infrastructure of the island, and was made to serve as a blueprint for the Japanese colonization of what became the Karafuto Prefecture in 1907. | |
