Abstract

G.S. No. 9/26/85-5. Findings of fact, conclusions of law, decision and order regarding the matter of the designation of the Kilauea Middle East Rift, Island of Hawaii, as a geothermal resources subzone. In 1983, Hawaii's legislature authorized and directed the Board of Land and Natural Resources to assess and recommend areas within the State that may be suitable for geothermal resource development (Act 296, SLH 1983). Subsequently, the Board identified three areas in Puna, Hawaii (Kapoho, Kamaili and Kahaualea) and one area on the southwest rift of Haleakala, Maui as geothermal resource subzones.
