Abstract
Description
This folder contains a speech given by Senator Daniel K. Inouye at the Temple Emanu-El regarding the achievements of democracy in civil and human rights despite the many tragedies that the U.S. has faced. In the speech he touches on citizens trying to take away the right to speak of religion in school and warns people to "be wary of those who would diminish those rights"; he also warns against animosity within immigrant and minority groups and urges listeners to instead embrace the increasing diversity and cultural pluralism of the U.S.
