E Ola Ka ʻIke Hawaiʻi: Hawaiian Knowledge Shall Live

Abstract

In 2020, the World Indigenous Nations University-Hawaiʻi Pasifika (WINUHP) launched the E Ola Ka ʻIke Hawaiʻi (Long Live Hawaiian Knowledge) project. The purpose of the project is to increase access to and engagement with culturally-relevant Native Hawaiian digital resources via information literacy skills development for Native Hawaiians, educators and librarians. E Ola Ka ʻIke Hawaiʻi project leaders have developed an entirely online, dynamic curriculum to offer a certificate program, which was piloted in 2021. In this session, project leaders discuss the implementation of E Ola Ka ʻIke Hawaiʻi in terms of its significant impact on augmenting Leo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Voice) and the advancement of Hana Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Work) all while working online during the pandemic.
