Abstract
Description
This folder contains a collection of interviews that pertain to Senator Daniel K. Inouye for educational use. A. Frenchy Desoto, the Trustee for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, shares her memories and first impressions of Senator Inouye. Gov. George Ariyoshi talks about Sen. Inouye’s contribution in Washington for the betterment of Hawai'i and discusses how John Burns and Inouye helped bind the Hawai'i community together after WWII. Alongside other interviews with politicians and congressmen and women, there are also interviews held with direct relatives of Senator Inouye like his brother Robert Inouye. He goes into detail about how their father is proud of what Senator Inouye was able to achieve, what it was like growing up in a Japanese-American household in Hawai'i, how his brother Dan was very calm and mature in their youth and how Henry Giugni was a huge inspiration to Daniel and acted as the catalyst for him to get into politics.
