Abstract
Description
This folder contains a speech given by Senator Daniel K. Inouye for Hawai'i Agriculture's 2000 Conference. This speech looks back on the agriculture tradition in Hawai'i, changes to the agriculture industry on Hawai'i Island such as the closing of sugar plantations, and jobs provided through agriculture and economics. In this speech Senator Inouye talks about the RETA-H (Rural Economic Transition Assistance-Hawaii) program and its role in building a bright future for agriculture on Hawai'i. He then mentions people who have shaped, or who had a vision for Hawai'i's agricultural future.
