Memorandum for General Bryan (Office of the Provost Marshal General) from Captain Hall, Assistant Executive to the Assistant Secretary of War, enclosing copies of documents related to the War Relocation Authority (WRA) segregation program for persons of Japanese descent. Attached are: 1) a letter to Dillon Myer, Director, WRA, from Assistant Secretary of War John J. McCloy clarifying Army responsibility in connection with the segregation program; 2) a memorandum to the Deputy Chief of Staff (War Department) from Mr. McCloy about War Department responsibility for transfer of evacuees between war relocation centers; 3) a letter to Mr. McCloy from Mr. Myer, concurring on a general plan for movement of evacuees; 4) a letter to Mr. Myer from Mr. McCloy responding to a request for guarding of evacuees during movement for the segregation program; 5) a letter to Mr. McCloy from Mr. Myer, outlining a plan for segregation and movement of evacuees between war relocation centers and requesting guarding of evacuees during movement; 6) a memorandum for Mr. McCloy from Major General Cramer, Judge Advocate General, expressing legal opinions on the War Department's roles in connection with the segregation program; and 7) a letter to Mr. Myer from Mr. McCloy regarding security requirements at Tule Lake Relocation Center.
