This folder contains a speech given by Senator Daniel K. Inouye before the Select Committee on Indian Affairs regarding S. 1998. In this speech, he talks about the health of the Native Hawaiian and Native American populations. He expresses that while the select groups’ health and numbers have steadily improved, there is still a need to address prevalent health problems such as diabetes. To combat these health problems, he advocates for the Report of The Secretary's Task Force on Black and Minority Health, an organization that has done extensive research in confirming the urgent health status of minority populations and explains that S. 1998 would address the severe need for quality care for Native Americans.
