Abstract

"The following recipes for Micronesian dishes were compiled for possible reference and use by Peace Corps volunteers now undergoing training for service in the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. The collection is by no means exhaustive, but is offered as an indication of what can be produced from local foodstuffs with the minimum of imported seasonings and using the simplest of cooking utensils." (Quoted from introduction written by Erminia K. Ngiraked.)

Note: Publication date is likely 1965 or 1966, based on a brief article in the October-November 1966 issue of the Micronesian Reporter magazine, which notes: "The Ngirakeds recently returned from Molokai, Hawaii, where they served as language and culture informants at a Peace Corps training center. Mrs. Ngiraked, an expert in the kitchen, compiled a cook book for the Peace Corps." (Micronesian Reporter, Vol. XIV, no. 5 (October-November, 1966), p. 23.
