Map of Asia extending to include Japan, the Phillipines and most of Indonesia, showing political boundaries; relief shown pictorially. In Latin. Originally published in Introductionis in universam geographicam by Philipp Cluver. In upper right hand margin; Tab : 35. Cartouche in upper left quadrant with female representation of Asia along with a large cat and a parrot. Numerous place names are given except in China which has no names and is filled with a network of lakes and rivers. The outline of Asia follows the Mercator-Hondius model with the Arctic and extreme coastlines truncated, an elongated Korean peninsula and a narrow Indian subcontinent.
