Abstract
"The purpose of the environmental monitoring plan presented here is twofold. The first objective is to present a detailed plan for an ambient air quality monitoring survey which will quantify existing background air pollutant levels and establish a meteorological data base in and around Kahauale'a. The second objective is to outline an air quality monitoring program designed to measure any change in air quality during well drilling (project induced pollutant levels). This second part of the environmental monitoring plan may be modified at a later date when the data obtained from baseline environmental studies have been evaluated. Baseline studies are being conducted for the State of Hawaii Department of Planning and Economic Development, for the National Park Service, and for Mid-Pacific Geothermal, Inc. (the ambient air quality survey described here). The duration of the ambient air quality survey described in the text will be one year, unless well drilling and the concomitant air quality monitoring program commence before that time."
