Abstract

Description

This folder contains the report "Land Use Districts for the State of Hawaii: Recommendations for Implementation of the State Land Use Law Act 187 SLH 1961" prepared for the Department of Planning and Research and the Land Use Commission by Harland Bartholomew & Associates. This assessment divides the land into 3 categories: urban, agriculture and conservation, then considers the state's plan to base development on the geographic conditions, existing land structures, terrain, population, economics, climate and natural phenomena of the land that was mapped. The report then considers the various permanent forms of the land boundaries, regulations regarding land use boundaries, recommended land use boundaries per island, existing land use, and allowable uses for urban, agricultural, and conservation lands.
