Attached are a related Jan. 19, 1945 letter from Edward Scheiberling, National Commander of The American Legion and an accompanying statement on the Hood River actions; a letter to the Foreign Missions Conference (of North America) in reply to their telegram to the President on the incident; a letter to Mr. McCloy from Assistant Attorney General Herbert Wechsler referring the Foreign Missions Conference telegram to the War Department; a letter to Mr. Burns of The American Legion enclosing an article on the Hood River Post from an unidentified newspaper; a letter to Mr. McCloy acknowledging his letter to The American Legion of Dec. 7 about the Post of The American Legion; and a telegram to the President from the Foreign Missions Council of North America requesting action for the Hood River Post removal of the sixteen names of Americans of Japanese ancestry.
