Abstract

Description

This folder holds correspondence strategy, analysis, draft legislation, and copies of historical documents relating to the Japanese Latin American (JLA) Bill, which created a fact-finding commission to determine the facts related to the internment, relocation, or deportation of those of Japanese descent in Latin America. The contact information for bill co-sponsors is noted in this folder, along with an analysis of the rates of compensation for members of the Commission and staff of the Commission. Also included in this folder are statistics on internment and repatriation of Germans, Italians and Japanese from the U.S. from other American republics during WWII and first hand-accounts of internment.
