This folder contains remarks by Senator Daniel K. Inouye regarding his 1993 Minuteman of the Year Award. In this speech Inouye gives his thoughts on the future of U.S. national defense and the role that the reserves (military) should play in maintaining the defense of the U.S. Inouye also touches upon communism, questions which Americans have regarding national defense, along with issues that Congress must confront. He also talks about the burden of leadership, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, national requirements that have molded the modern history of America, and the threat of the Russian military power.
