Abstract

Description

This folder contains letters, cards, and a radiogram of congratulations following Daniel K. Inouye's election to the U.S. House of Representatives following statehood. Also included are tearsheets from the Congressional Record that accompanied a letter from Ernest Gruening, USS, Alaska. The tearsheets include remarks made by Senator Gruening about Alaska and Hawai'i statehood and the work of John (Jack) A. Burns in achieving statehood. A letter to Charles J. Smith, a director of United Steelworkers of America, from Joe Miller, addresses the funding of certain candidates that have historically supported labor.
