dc.description 1 volume : illustrations, maps, portraits ; 19 x 27 cm. The book contains brief summaries of biographical information about Japanese immigrants to Hawaii from Kumamoto prefecture in Kyushu Island. The book includes black & white photos of individuals, families, and family-owned/operated businesses. The publisher states in the preface that this is the first biographical directory with information about immigrants from Kumamoto. The words “Not for Sale” are imprinted in the colophon, which means there would have been only a very limited number of these books in circulation. 『布哇在留熊本県人略歴写真帖』は出版当時在留している熊本県からハワイへ移民して来た人たちの略歴を白黒写真とともに出版したものである。写真には紹介されている本人やその家族そして自営業の様子が写されている。序章には在布熊本県人の略歴が出版されるのはこれが初めてであると記されている。また、奥付には「非売品」の文字が見え、この略歴写真帖は広く流通販売された出版物ではなかったことが推測される。
