This folder contains correspondence and memorandums between Senator Daniel K. Inouye, state officials of the Department of Social Services and Housing, Department of Defense, various medical care facilities, military branches (Air Force, Navy, Army), and various social services and housing programs addressing such matters as mismanagement of appropriated funding, family advocacy and child matters, drug formulary regulations, child abuse and neglect, etc. There are also letters in response to matters concerning teenage suicide, child protection, early childhood data and information, infant and child development, and child care programs. Also included are memos addressing zoning and safety aspects of a proposed airport location in Lahaina, a bill introduced by Senator Inouye to deauthorize a navigation project for Kalihi Channel at Honolulu Harbor, Hawai'i, a draft copy of the National Association of Social Workers' "NASW Standards for Social Work Practices in Child Protective Services," and a report summarizing how Hawai'i will implement the recommendations of the 1980 "Listening to America's Families" report.
