Letter to Mrs. Roosevelt from Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson regarding a letter received by Mrs. Roosevelt from a Mr. Mikami, Jerome Relocation Center, and explaining the War Department program to form combat teams of loyal Japanese Americans. Attached is a separate reply letter from the Secretary of War to Seichi Mikami, Jerome Relocation Center, Arkansas, about the separate combat unit of Japanese Americans being formed and stating the War Department is not committed to a policy of segregation. Also attached is a letter from Mr. Mikami to the Secretary of War stating that the segregative plan for Japanese Americans will lead duplication of the segregative treatment of the Negroes and providing general suggestions be taken in conjunction with the opening for armed forces (for Japanese Americans).
