Abstract

Description

NOT OCRed. This folder holds correspondence, memorandums, bill drafts, reports, and memos relating to S. 1832 (90th Congress, 1st session), which would amend the Hawaii Statehood Act to remove the authority of the U.S. Government to bring suit for breach of trust against Hawai'i State officials in handling certain trust funds, such as lands given in trust to the State of Hawai'i. This folder also includes materials related to plans to improve public facilities, services, job opportunities, etc. for the Nanakuli-Wai'anae Coast area through the Model Cities Demonstration Program grant and plans to improve the Kalihi-Palama area, which had also been considered for the Model Cities Demonstration Program of Honolulu. The Model City Program's budget and demographics of areas interested in being chosen for the Model Cities Demonstration Program grant are also noted, along with some of the issues that need to be addressed in those areas.
