This folder contains letters of congratulations, support, and requests to Daniel K. Inouye upon his primary victory. The folder also contains letters composed by Daniel K. Inouye in response to letters of congratulations received from friends, supporters, and other government officials. Among these letters are Daniel K. Inouye's thanks to his key campaign organizers, Francis M. Izumi, George Inouye, Goro Hokama, Edward Shimabukuro, Nicky Iwai, and Herbert Doi. There is a copy of the the October 1960 issue of the "Mountain-Plains A.J.A. News" sent to Inouye by Minoru Yasui that contains an article announcing the formation of a "Bipartisan Volunteers for the Re-Election of DAN INOUYE" committee. The letter to Mr. Donald Wiley, dated 7 November 1960 (6 numbered pages), consists of D.K. Inouye's responses to four questions regarding his stance on nuclear policy. There are several letters from Senator John F. Kennedy regarding his campaign efforts to win the Presidency in the 1960 election. Also included is correspondence concerning ongoing campaigns at both the state and national level.
