Abstract

Description

Summary on the subject of War Department restriction on employment of Japanese American citizens in war plants. Secretary of the Interior sent letter of 31 January 1945 to the Secretary of War suggesting the Provost Marshal General eliminate "prescriptive pre-clearance procedures" applied to Japanese Americans released from war relocation centers seeking employment in war industries. Enclosed draft reply for approval states objections to this suggestion and also states recent measures taken to eliminate pre-clearance except for plants engaged in highly classified work.
