Contains testimony outlining the historical relationship between Native Hawaiians and their land, emphasizing the consequences of land policies such as the Mahele of 1848 and the Kuleana Act of 1850, which resulted in land concentration and dispossession due to foreign influence. IMPORTANT* – There are three copies of the Testimony to the U.S. Senate Commission on Energy and Natural Resources hearing in Hawaiʻi on the Report of the Native Hawaiians Study Commission (1984), one containing the draft, the other containing corrections, and the last being the final written piece with included corrections.
