Abstract
Description
This folder contains a copy of Benjamin Dillingham's 9-page campaign speech addressing the high cost of living in Hawai'i, specifically labor disputes in the shipping industry, and offers solution to an 80-day cooling off period preventing lengthy and expensive strikes. This folder also includes two copies of a second political speech criticizing Inouye for not denouncing Newton I . Miyagi of the ILWU, who denounces the U.S. President and defends Fidel Castro. Dan Inouye's campaign committee has a 5-page Campaign Facts and Comment report, which responds to Ben Dillingham's doubts about statehood, and accusations of treason with ILWU. This folder also include a 6-page paper, "Benjamin Dillingham Speaks His Mind," describing Dillingham's comments on public school children, big government, civil service, honoring veterans, county government, statehood, lawmakers, and the capacity to represent the people of Hawai'i. There is also a biography, a sample letter to patients from doctors, an endorsement letter signed by multiple doctors, a self addressed stamped mailer to request pamphlets. There is also a multi-colored pamphlet, and an advertisement regarding a shipping monopoly.
