Description

This folder contains a speech given by Senator Daniel K. Inouye at the Smithsonian Institution. In this speech Inouye shares facts about the institution and tells of the importance of the institution. He then talks about his role serving on the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American National Advisory Group, and the absence of Asian Pacific Americans in the Smithsonian's collections, research, exhibitions, and planning. Inouye also talks about the establishment of the Asian Pacific Americans Studies Program, which will address the gaps in the institution's materials, to provide more inclusion of Asian Pacific American heritage inactivities and exhibitions at the Smithsonian.
