Description
Memorandum on War Department training policy apparently relating to facilities with a suggested revision to a statement, the purpose of which as to allow the possibility of training "soldiers of Japanese descent in the prohibited zone because of the superior facilities existing there." Also includes a memo for the Adjutant General at direction of the Secretary of War allowing the assignment of American soldiers of Japanese descent for training purposes within the prohibited areas; a message to the Commanding General, Western Defense Command about the same topic; an earlier message from the Commanding General, Western Defense Command requesting assignment of soldiers of Japanese ancestry to Army Specialized Training units within the prohibited zone not be authorized; a 3 page memo for the files on an American's experience with military training in Japanese schools; and a memo on eligibility of citizens of Japanese ancestry for Army Specialized Training, service schools and officer candidate schools.
