Abstract

Oral histories capture people’s genealogy and stories from a specific time and place. They are valuable primary sources that provide perspectives and information not found elsewhere. The presenter will share a variety of videos about Aunty Harriet Potter, a longtime resident of Molokai, and Reverend William Kaina, a congregational minister who grew up in Ho’okena and Kalapana, Hawaii. Attendees will get an overview of the process of conducting oral histories from beginning to end.
