Description
This folder contains talking points for the Dedication of the University of Hawai'i Agricultural Sciences Facility, Phase III, held on March 14, 2000, at Manoa Campus. In this speech, Senator Inouye states that the new $27 million agriculture facility is a testament to agriculture's being far from dead in Hawai'i; the facility, along with the Agricultural Research Service in Hilo, will provide farmers with access to research and development support to improve crops, reduce pests, and enhance and expand markets. Through the Rural Economic Transition Assistance Program, growth in independent businesses and jobs occured, and 17,000 acres were put into diversified agriculture.
