This folder holds various letters, pamphlets, memos, stories, articles, related court cases, statistics and reports regarding Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 4, Sixth State Legislature in 1971. This resolution proposed amendments to the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act of 1920, enabling the State of Hawai'i alone (rather than the state plus Congress) to permit changes to the 1920 Act. The statistics analyze race in Hawai'i, Hawaiians living in Hawai'i at the time, and the various percentages of Hawaiian blood that students attending Kamehameha Schools had during 1970. Besides documents concerning the proposed amendments to the 1920 Act, there is also material regarding redress to Hawaiians, the reconciling of the Hawaiian Home Lands inventory in Lualualei, and correspondence and draft legislation relating to the recommendations of the Federal-state Task Force on the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act.
