This folder holds correspondence and analysis relating to land claims, the Hawaiian home lands, and the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act. Also present are materials examining the nature of the Federal government's responsibility to Native Hawaiians, including analysis of and responses to a January 19, 1993, opinion by outgoing Department of the Interior Solicitor General Thomas Sansonetti, which concluded that the United States is not a trustee for Native Hawaiians.
