Abstract
What are you doing, on a professional level, to give back to others? What resources are at your disposal? What change do you want to see on your campus and/or in your community? What partners can assist you in achieving your goals?
Our presentation highlights three different outreach programs recently implemented by our University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu Library and is intended to inspire you to create programs that address the unique needs of your communities. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every attendee leaves the presentation ready to enact positive, sustainable change at their own libraries. Why is outreach important to us? We believe that it benefits our on and off campus communities, provides our Library staff with a greater sense of purpose and helps them to develop professionally, and exercises the Library’s "capacity to endure." By exercising our "capacity to endure," we are building a solid foundation that protects the future of our Library, our students, our employees, and our surrounding communities.
