Hawaii Land Survey Registered Maps are old maps with assigned map numbers. There are over 3,200 Registered Maps. Web-friendly versions were derived from predominantly black and white TIFF and PDF copies provided by the Land Survey Division of the State of Hawaii.

The maps are made available here for ease of access through keyword place name searching. The descriptive metadata is minimal, compiled from various sources, inconsistent across records, and may contain errors. Much data is missing on the maps, especially dates, surveyors, titles, and other cartographic details. Nevertheless, close examination of the maps with the large image viewer reveals rich historical information of Hawaii during the 1800s and early 1900s.

TIP: search "Registered Map" and a keyword place name. For example: Registered Map Lahaina will primarily retrieve Lahaina maps in this collection.

The Registered Maps also can be directly accessed by number from the Land Survey Division’s Map Search or through OHA's geographic information system Kipuka Database.
