The Association for Social Anthropology in Eastern Oceania (ASAEO), first established in 1967, was reconstituted in 1970 as the Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania (ASAO). ASAO is an international organization dedicated to comparative studies of Pacific topics. Annual meetings provide opportunities for groups of scholars to discuss, critique and refine papers, often leading to joint publication. The Pacific Collection at the University of Hawaii-Manoa serves as the archive for the print records of the association. This online collection houses selected digital materials supplied by the ASAO that complement but do not mirror the printed archives housed at the library. The ASAO website can be found at
