Dr. John Rabe, a dental surgeon, traveled extensively in the Pacific in the late 19th century. The Pacific Collection at Hamilton Library has two sets of Dr. Rabe's journals from this period, which have been cataloged separately as Logs, Diaries and journals and Holographic journal of Dr. John Rabe : dental work and records, Robert E. Van Dyke Collection. The "Introduction to the logs, diaries and journals of Dr. John Rabe, with resume-inventory of the collection" is a detailed inventory of the 50 journals that make up the Logs, Diaries and journals, which are held in Hamilton Library in both their original physical form and as microfilmed copies of the originals. In 2014, a selection of 10 items from the Logs, Diaries and journals were digitized as part of a collaboration with the Oakland Museum of California (which holds other materials related to Dr. Rabe). These 10 items are available below, along with the "Introduction"; the remaining journals have not been digitized.
