Letter from U.S. Senator Albert Chandler thanking Colonel Scobey, Office of the Assistant Secretary of War, for a letter and report on Japanese American soldiers who visited the Western Defense Command areas. Attached is the letter from Colonel Scobey describing the general situation of Nisei volunteers being able to return on furlough to the evacuated area of the Western Defense Command and introducing a summary report of the experiences of soldiers who had returned to California, Oregon and Washington.
