Abstract
Ancient sites associated with the management of particular resources have been identified within three ancient
political centers found on the island of Pohnpei in Eastern Micronesia. These sites show that the management of
particular resources for food, personal adornment, and the decoration of canoes were controlled by chiefly figures
throughout the development of Pohnpei’s ancient political system.
