dc.description This folder contains a speech given by Senator Daniel K. Inouye at the American Civil Liberties Union annual (ACLU) dinner. In this speech the Senator talks about civil liberties and the changes in viewing liberty from the past until the present. Inouye also talks of the actions of the Hawai'i Chapter of the ACLU and their accomplishments, along with some history of the ACLU's successes and failures. He also names issues that still need to be worked out and mentions current and past legislation related to civil liberties.
