Abstract

In the process of designating geothermal subzone areas, the Department of Land and Natural Resources invites the participation, of the general public. Towards this end, a local public participation and information program is being organized. A series of two informational meetings are planned. The objective of the first meeting is to report the most likely locations of geothermal resources and to open lines of communication between the public and the Department. The second meeting will focus on identification of impact issues. Public comment will be solicited at both meetings. The flow diagram below shows how the public informational meetings fit into the subzone designation process. Throughout the process, from the enactment of Act 296, SLH 1983 to the final decision of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, public participation has been and will be solicited from various interested parties to assist the Department and the Board.
