dc.descriptionNOT OCRed. This folder contains a speech that Senator Spark Matsunaga made before the 1977 convention of the ALOHA Association regarding the Hawaiian Native Claims Settlement Act. This speech addresses the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, the Hawaiian Native Claims Settlement Study Commission, reasons why Hawaiians have a legitimate claim against the United States Government for government actions during the overthrow of the Hawaiian kingdom, and reparations for those actions. Matsunaga also gives reasons to support S.J. Res. 4 and related legislation benefiting Native Hawaiians.
