Letter to Colonel Herman Beukema, Army Service Training Division from Assistant Secretary of War John J. McCloy, on training in the Army in the Japanese language or in "Far Eastern matters." Attached are a letter to Mr. McCloy from Major General Allen Gullion, The Provost Marshal General, on difficulties in preparing men for service in the Far East in language and area study and attaching a report on facilities for instruction in Japanese language; a 4 page report titled "Distribution in Japanese Language" with a list of institutions, numbers of personnel to be trained, etc.; and a description sheet on War Department Training Circular No. 99 on Safeguarding Military Information.
