dc.description Scale approximately 1:1,000,000. 1 map : color ; 69 x 99 cm. Pink-shaded circles identify the locations and relative sizes of the Japanese communities throughout São Paulo and adjacent jurisdictions. Various other symbols in the legend explain different types of agrarian activities and land use throughout the countryside. Additionally, the inset map of the world, in the lower-right corner, shows the long shipping route that the Japanese immigrants had to travel to reach Brazil, leaving Japan then sailing around Singapore, then to Ceylon, the Cape of Good Hope, then across the Atlantic to Brazil.
