Memorandum on the Field Artillery Battalion of the Japanese American Combat Team (442nd) having an allowance of 2 airplanes, 2 pilots and 1 mechanic and informing of a planned call for 2 officer volunteers from the Field Artillery Battalion for liaison pilot training. Attached is a letter from the Secretary of War to the Secretary of Commerce providing for the issuance of airman identification cards to American-born Japanese and "naturalized citizens of enemy alien descent" and procedures to be followed for this; and a letter of reply from Colonel Scobey of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War to a George Maruyama of Granada Relocation Center in regards to his apparent interest in serving as a pilot in the armed forces.
